We are seeking a skilled and motivated Plant Mechanic to join one of our local client sites, responsible for maintaining and repairing Council plant and equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive workshop environment with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork.
About the Role
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain Council plant and equipment
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on additional plant as directed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop, ensuring tools and materials are readily available
- Attend and respond to plant breakdowns in the field when required
- Provide input and advice on plant purchases
- Ensure all plant is equipped with complete operating, maintenance, start-up, and shutdown procedures
- Support and train staff in the correct operation and maintenance of plant
- Supervise and mentor an Apprentice Mechanic
- Assist with the design and development of approved workshop projects
- Perform other duties within your skill set as directed
About You
- Relevant trade qualification in plant mechanics or similar
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship
Licences & Tickets
- MR Licence (Essential)
- LF (Forklift) Licence (Preferred but not essential)
- Front-End Loader Ticket (Preferred but not essential)

- Competitive pay rate: $44.39 per hour
- Work-life balance with a 9-day fortnight (every second Friday off)
- Stable, full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 3:30pm
